Create Plasma Effect in Photoshop

  1. In Photoshop CS4, create a new file and create a shape by Marguee Tool Polygonal_Lasso_Tool_ and then fill it with whatever color you like.

  2. Select the Dodge Tool Dodge_Tool to smear on the edge of the shape to make highlight the outside of the shape.

  3. Duplicate the layer, rotate the shape, and change the layer to Screen.

  4. Select Wave of Distort from Filter menu and set the parameters depend on your like.

  5. Select Fade from Edit menu and then down the opacity, and see what you like.

  6. Finally, duplicate the original layer, and repeat changing the blending mode, rotating the shape, applying the wave filter, and then fading the wave filter, and so on.

  7. You can get some great effects by add the Wave Filter again of each layer. You can also play around with blending modes and trying to apply other Distort filters.
